Studio Ceramic Vessel by Unknown Artist
USA, mid-late 20th century: Hand-thrown studio ceramic vessel featuring a tall, tapered form and a finely worked surface. The exterior is decorated with an allover sgraffito pattern of vertical linear motifs punctuated by repeating almond-shaped elements, incised through a softly mottled glaze. The glaze palette ranges from warm stone and taupe to subtle iron speckling, with natural firing variations that add depth and movement. The rim is gently flared and finished with a darker glazed edge, providing contrast and definition. The base is unglazed and bears an incised maker’s signature, consistent with mid-century studio pottery practices.
